A rare find, wallets that don't look as though they've had pasta for dinner
As we edge closer and closer to a cash free society, I can’t help but question the need for the conventional wallet. Will it eventually become obsolete? Will we still find use for the wallet or will it be as redundant as the floppy disk once pulled out of Steve Jobs’ front pocket?
I am always astonished as to the staggering amount of people who own such large wallets. What do they hold in them—their entire life savings? Probably… But is this truly necessary? Moreover, why do so many females feel the need to interchange between wallets on a weekly basis? To me this process of transferring everything over is insanely time consuming/just generally insane!
I currently find myself wallet-less and looking at card holders that for some reason seem to be designed for men, and only men… I’m wondering if this is the fashion worlds dig at females. Do they want women to have a plethora of credit cards, loyalty cards, cards for anything…cards for nothing? All a girl really needs is her credit card, MTA ticket, and ID.
With the digitizing of almost everything from receipts to business cards and photos, and technology like Apple Pay and Swish that allow you to conveniently make payments from your iPhone, you simply don’t need to carry with you as much cash and cards as previously required, and your wallet should reflect that.
If you’re unsure where to start, downsizing your wallet is relatively easy. Using a receipt scanning app, trashing business cards and instead adding the contact directly into your mobile, and taking notes on your phone will make a world of difference… and once you’ve done that, all you’ll need is a simple wallet to add the cards/cash that did make the cut.
